Silent Alarm Remixed is exactly as it's billed - a remix of Bloc Party's widely acclaimed debut album Silent Alarm. Although the remix version is slightly more abstract than the original, both albums highlight the skill and musical talent of Bloc Party.

Bloc Party Remixed abandons the tightly wound rock sound that was at the heart of the debut album and explores a more spacey feeling. For example, synthesised beats and distant voice effects are used in Like Eating Glass and Helicopter.

But the remix album lacks the continuity and flow of the original, probably because an array of musicians and bands - including Mogwai, M83 and Four Tet - worked on the tracks.

Silent Alarm was a great album as a whole and took listeners through a variation of high and low moods, as a solid album should. In contrast, the remix resembles a compilation of interesting singles that happen to be on an album together. But it shows the wide range of sound that Bloc Party is capable of.
