Tang Yik-chun was crowned Athletic King and Junior Athletic King on the final day of competition at the Watsons Water Athletic King finals yesterday when he won both the men's 100m and 200m events.

In the men's 100m, National Games gold medallist Gong Wei nursed a knee injury and took things a bit too cautiously in the qualifying rounds, and at 10th fastest failed to make the final.

Tang finished ahead of Lui Ka-ho and To Wai-lok, with former Athletic King Chiang Wa-hung back in fourth. Tang won the 200m by almost half a second from National Games champion Yang Yaozu.

'There is one more domestic competition in two week's time. This is my last year as a junior so I would like to target the Hong Kong junior 400m record of 48.47 seconds before I become a senior athlete,' said Tang.'

Wan Kin-yee retained her Athletic Queen title with an emphatic win in the women's 100m.
