The Swire Family Fun Day proved a big hit with more than 3,000 staff and family at the weekend.

While children enjoyed the jugglers, unicyclists and game booths, Operation Santa Claus benefited from tickets sales.

Among the game booths were three staffed by volunteers from Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong, one of the 12 beneficiaries of Operation Santa Claus.

At one booth, youngsters and adults donned ear muffs and were taught through action games what it feels like to be hearing impaired.

At another, children shut their eyes and felt objects to give them a sense of being blind. And at a third, children and adults were taught how to paint, draw or write calligraphy with a physical impairment, for example, putting one hand behind their backs.

The association's Amy Fung said: 'This is an opportunity for people to experience the world of the visually impaired, physically restricted and those with hearing problems. At first they don't think they can paint with one finger. It's a great experience for them and parents encourage their children to try.'
