HONG Kong favourites South China and their Indian opponents, East Bengal, will be going all out to score the first goal in tonight's Asian Cup Winners' Championship quarter-final second leg at Mongkok Stadium - but for different reasons.
South China go into the match with a 1-0 lead from the first leg, which was played at the Salt Lake Stadium in Calcutta a week ago.
And the Caroliners' coach, Raymond Ng Wai-man, believes that a quick goal in tonight's return match will kill off the visitors and set up a glamorous semi-final against the Nissan-backed J. League side Yokohama Marinos.
Ng's opposite number, Shyamal Ghosh, has also instructed his team to press hard for the first goal to throw the tie wide open again.
Said Ghosh: ''Our aim is to score the first goal as quickly as possible to make things equal and then we will see what happens.
''I think it's going to be very tough because South China have the lead and are the home side but if we get the first goal I think we can do it.'' South China coach Ng countered: ''The first goal will be very important and if we can score it we are 90 per cent certain of going through.
