Over the past 12 days we have been highlighting the work of the 12 beneficiary charities of this year's Operation Santa Claus.
Through telling their stories and providing an insight into the lives of those who work to promote these charities, or have benefited from that work, we have hoped to raise awareness about these organisations and encourage donations and fund-raising activities by individuals, schools, clubs and corporations.
Tonight is the official launch of Operation Santa Claus, which is being organised by RTHK, the South China Morning Post's co-organiser of the charity campaign.
'It's going to be a grand ceremony,' said Bryan Curtis, head of RTHK's Radio 3, 'because there's a real likelihood that this will be the best Operation Santa Claus ever. This campaign is just going from strength to strength.
'It's the first time we've done a full evening like this and it should be a memorable one. The evening will involve the launch, plus dinner, an auction run by Sotheby's and a big band providing the musical entertainment, all at Cafe Deco on The Peak.'
The 12 charities encompass a variety of needs within Hong Kong and we'll be following the lives of some of the people who are part of those organisations.
