Common dress codes during the party season:

White Tie

Typically, this signifies the most formal events, and show-stopping evening wear is a must. Women should don their most elegant evening gowns, and men are expected to wear tuxedos.

Black Tie

Although a black-tie event is also formal, the dress choice is more flexible. Formal gowns are common, but women have been known to wear cocktail dresses, as well as suits or tuxedos accessorised with flashy jewellery and bags. Men can't go wrong with a tuxedo.

Black Tie Optional

Still formal but men have the option to go more casual in a black or navy suit. Women usually follow the same rules as a black-tie event.
