Hacken Lee: A roller-coaster career

1985: Wins amateur singing contest; signs to Polygram and releases self-titled EP a year later.

1987: Debut album Signs of Life doesn't do well with fans.

1988: Appears in first soap series on TVB, helping to raise his profile. Second album, Summer's Legend, goes platinum.

1989: This Place and This Feeling wins platinum award; Purple Dream goes double platinum.

1990: Scores second double platinum with Love.

1992: Red Sun, a single from the album of the same name, makes Lee a household name.

1993: Signs to Star Records. His eight concert dates at the Hong Kong Coliseum sell out in hours.
