Popular DJ Jim Yan says he had to force himself to like chickens for the latest Walt Disney film.

He provides the voice of the main character, Chicken Little,  in Disney's first computer-generated animation, Chicken Little.

'I am scared of birds . . . any birds, including chickens,' said Yan.

'My cousin was bitten by a chicken when she was young. She told me that chickens were evil.

'I still don't like  live chickens, even after watching Chicken Little so many times.'

The animated tale  adds a new twist to the classic fable of a young chicken who causes widespread panic when he mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky.

In this hilarious adventure, Chicken Little is determined to revive his ruined reputation. But just as things are starting to go his way, a real piece of the sky lands on his head.

Suspense, chaos and plenty of laughs ensue as Chicken Little and his band of misfit friends, Abby Mallard (aka Ugly Duckling), Runt of the Litter and Fish Out of Water, attempt to save the world without sending the town into a whole new panic.

This time, when it comes to saving the world, it helps to be a little chicken.

Charlene Choi Cheuk-yin of Canto-pop duet Twins plays Ugly Duckling, while director-cum-comedian Vincent Kok Tak-chiu plays the pig, Runt of the Litter.

It is the first time Yan has done the voice-over for  a main character.

'It took much longer than I expected. I thought we could do it in one day, but we ended up in the studio for three days,' said Yan, a DJ for Commercial Radio 903.

'I had to scream a lot as there were many exciting scenes.

'It isn't easy to scream in a way that won't make listeners uncomfortable.'

Yan thinks he has done a better  job with this voice-over than Zach Braff, who did the original.

'The original Chicken Little has a grown-up man's voice, despite the fact that the character is  a teenager,' said the 28-year-old Yan, who has a  youthful voice.

'I feel that my voice is more suitable for the character.'

By partnering with another 903 DJ Donald Tong as comedy duo I Love You Boyz, Yan rose to fame as one of the most popular artists among teenagers.

Having completed the Chicken Little project, Yan is now concentrating on the upcoming I Love You Boyz live performance at the end of the month.

The show, Dragon & Phoenix, will be staged from December 27 to 30 at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Jockey Club Auditorium.

It will be a follow-up  to the duo's successful summer show.

'It is a totally different experience from Chicken Little. It's also a challenge for me to get involved in so many projects other than my daily radio show,' said Yan.
