The ICAC yesterday withdrew an application to be represented separately at the appeal by Chan Kau-tai, the father of pop star Eason Chan Yick-shun, against bribery convictions.
Philip Dykes SC, for the graft-busting agency, withdrew the application after the Court of Appeal had started hearing it.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption had sought permission to have its own lawyer at the appeal after allegations that it had withheld information from the defence at the original trial.
Chan, a former chief government building services engineer, was sentenced to seven years in prison in January last year after being convicted of taking $3 million in bribes from contractors.
The appeal hearing is due to start today.
Several ICAC officers and lawyers involved in the trial will give evidence in the appeal, which is scheduled to take seven days.
