A son of billionaire philanthropist Eric Hotung has sought a court order to gain access to information concerning the secret trust his father set up for him and his brothers a quarter of a century ago.
Anthony Hotung has issued an originating summons against his aunt and trustee, Winnie Ho Yuen-ki, demanding that she release documents relating to the trust within two weeks.
Ms Ho, the younger sister of casino tycoon Stanley Ho Hung-sun, was named by Eric Hotung as the trustee when he set up the trust in 1979 for his three sons.
Mr Justice Robert Tang Ching, of the Court of First Instance, ruled in March that Eric Hotung did not have the power to revoke the two secret trusts he had created - one for his sons, another for his daughters.
Eric Hotung revoked the trust last year after sons Anthony and Sean brought lawsuits against Ms Ho seeking information on the trusts.
Anthony Hotung is seeking via the summons all documents in the possession of Ms Ho in relation to Hotung Enterprises Limited (HEL) and Hotung Investment (China ) Limited (HICL) for the period from 1996 to September this year. Both companies formed the assets of the secret trusts.
