FORMER Miss Asia contestant Candy Chiu Ching-yee has told police she has been threatened with violence if she does not sing at a Christmas Ball.
She told detectives she had signed a contract to sing after being approached by an actress. But after a dispute over how much she would be paid, she tried to break the contract to take up a film offer in Indonesia.
Chiu said she had received several threats over the phone since then and had reported them to police.
''She [the actress] said that I would be beaten up like actress Ng Suet-man [attacked after refusing to strip for a Category III film],'' Chiu said.
Three police officers interviewed Chiu and produced several files in which the actress who made the threat was cited in other assault cases.
Two weeks before Chiu's phone threat, actress Stella Man So, who starred in the Category III Erotic Ghost Story, was attacked outside a hair salon in Central.
