LIFE on the Keeping Posted watch is not without its pleasures, as lunch yesterday with dazzling Miss Denmark, Maria Hirse, proved.
All eyes at the Grand Hyatt's crowded Tiffin Lounge swivelled as the 22-year-old entered and parked her svelte frame on a leather couch. And not even the long flight from Copenhagen that had deposited her in Hong Kong just a few hours earlier could stifle her natural sense of fun.
''I'm here to have fun,'' conceded Maria. ''In fact the only reason I entered the Miss Denmark competition was because I had always wanted to visit Mexico where the Miss Universe contest was being held.'' She does have one important duty in Hong Kong. That's to lend her considerable charms to the opening ceremony of the Danish furniture store ID Design at Times Square on Friday.
A model and TV quiz show hostess back home, Maria was keenly interested in the news that Prince Joachim of Denmark is temporarily resident in Hong Kong, and known to visit the hip-hot nightspots around town.
''I might even bump into him,'' she remarked, her eyes lighting up at the prospect.
We're sure the prince, a home-loving sort, would be glad of the opportunity to practise his Danish with lovely Maria.
