A Hong Kong woman was murdered in her villa home in Zhongshan , Guangdong, early yesterday, police confirmed last night.
The woman, who was in her 40s, was stabbed in the neck with a sharp object and was certified dead when police arrived at the scene, Hong Kong television reports said.
Asked to confirm the incident last night, a police officer from Gangkou Township Public Security Bureau said: 'Yes, there was a case of murder. Preliminary investigations showed she was a Hong Kong resident.'
But the officer declined to reveal the woman's identity and details of her death.
A spokesman for the Hong Kong Immigration Department said last night the department had received calls from the victim's family asking for help.
Police cars were stationed outside the Zhongshan Morning Star Villa, a popular home for Hongkongers, and officers closed a section of road outside the estate after news of the death was announced.
