Feathers fly as residents' woes dog transvestite cabaret

1-MIN READ1-MIN

Transvestite shows at a housing estate are to be subjected to extra licensing conditions following a surge in residents' complaints.

Food officials made the pledge at a Southern District Council meeting yesterday when councillors complained the shows at Wah Fu Estate, Aberdeen, had caused serious traffic problems. The transvestite shows, which run between 4.30pm and 11pm, attract thousands of mainland tourists a day.

Police figures presented at the meeting show 50 fixed penalty tickets and 30 verbal warnings for traffic offences had been made in eight months of Golden Dome's operations from January 29 last year. But between November 13 and December 1, the police issued 22 tickets and 151 verbal warnings.

Stanley Tai Chun-shing, Southern district environmental hygiene superintendent, promised to introduce extra conditions if the operator, Golden Dome International, renews its licence in April.

He said the conditions could include extension of the break time between shows from 15 minutes to one hour and cutting the number of shows a day from five to four.
