KUANYIN, the latest vessel to fly the Hong Kong flag, made its maiden voyage to the territory this week.

The 15,290 deadweight tonne (dwt) bulk carrier was built by Xingang Shipyard in Tianjin, and was delivered to its owner, Canton Trader, on November 15.

The ship is managed by Fenwick Shipping Services, a joint venture between Oistein Thorsen and Antony Marden.

Mr Marden's family has been active in the shipping industry for 50 years.

Marine Director Allan Pyrke was among a group of guests invited to tour the vessel, moored at Western Anchorage, on Wednesday.

''I am delighted to see the next generation of Mardens carrying on business in Hong Kong,'' Mr Pyrke said.
