The China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has donated $1 million to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to support its international exchange scholarships for undergraduate students, in particular those from the mainland. A presentation ceremony was held last Friday. CNOOC chief executive Fu Chengyu (above right) reaffirmed the oil company's commitment to giving to the community. Over the years, the company has supported different campaigns to relieve poverty and promote education. CUHK vice-chancellor Lawrence Lau Juen-yee (left) pointed out that last year, the university was the first to participate in the nationwide joint university entrance exam to recruit undergraduate students directly from the mainland.
