Academics from leading local and mainland universities met at City University this week to discuss international co-operation and the effects of internationalisation on higher education. Jointly held by City University and China Higher Education Association, the two-day meeting was attended by 90 academics from 48 mainland and six Hong Kong and Macau universities. 'In recent years, the mainland has developed to a stage where it places importance on internationalisation and is more rapidly attracting international talent and intelligence,' said CityU president, Professor Chang Hsin-kang. He added that it was fitting that the heads of external affairs of top mainland universities had met to discuss internationalisation in Hong Kong, 'China's most international gateway'.
