MOVIE stuntwoman Li Fai's escapades earned herself - and Hong Kong - a second gold medal at the World Wushu Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, yesterday.

 Hong Kong movie stunt star Li, confirmed her reputation as one of the world's leading exponents in wushu with another golden performance in the women's changquan competition.

 Li had earlier won gold in the cudgel event and was third in the sword routine.

 A marvellous display of skill gave Li a narrow victory. Scoring 9.40 points, Li edged surprise silver medallist Nguyen Thi Thung of Vietnam by the slimmest of margins - 0.01 of a point..

 Japan's Momi Matsmura and Jennifer Yeo of the Philippines shared the bronze with 9.33 points each.

 The 23-year-old China-born Li beat Malaysia's Ng Choo-hee by 0.003 points to win the cudgel earlier in the week.

  Hong Kong coach Liu De said: ''I always thought Li had a very good chance of winning gold in changquan because she didn't really have any strong rivals to match her.

 ''It was a very close fight between her and the Vietnamese girl but, thankfully, our girl won the gold.''  ''Overall, we have done as well as expected and we still have chances of winning a few more medals before the championships ends tomorrow.

 ''Competition is tougher than last time because there are more countries competing and all of them are taking the sport seriously.''  There was also success for the territory in the women's nanquan event when Ng Siu-ching took the silver behind China's Liang Yanhua. The margin of victory was wide, with the event clearly dominated by Liang who won with 9.70 points compared to Ng's 9.51 points.

 The bronze medal was shared by Japan's Noriko Katsube and South Korea's Kim An-shun, who each scored 9.38 points.

 Hong Kong are currently lying second in the medals table with two golds, two silvers and four bronzes. Favourites China kept up their impressive run in the tournament, having won seven gold medals after just four days of competition.

 Hosts Malaysia are lying third, after winning one gold and five silvers followed by Singapore and Japan who are currently in joint third spot having won a silver and two bronzes each.

 Malaysia's sole gold medal was won by Choy Yeen Onn, who took the men's sword play event.

 The 28-year-old Choy, who earlier took a silver medal in the changquan event, scored 9.48 points to edge Samson Oo of the Philippines by 0.02 points. Singapore's Ng Cheng Hye was third with 9.35 points.

    Hong Kong's other medal winners were Ng Siu-ching, who won a silver in the women's sword event and a bronze in the spear routine, and bronzes by Tsui Lim-chee in the women's cudgel and Leung Yat-ho in the men's nanquan.

 The tournament began last Sunday and ends tomorrow.
