John Millen

Rio M is the lead singer in the rock band  Bring Forth. This is an  interview he did recently for a local radio station.

Interviewer: Good morning, Rio. Thanks for making time in your busy schedule to have a chat.

Rio M: No problem.

Interviewer: You and the boys in Bring Forth are having great success at the moment.

Rio M: It's cool. Things are going very well.

Interviewer: Tell us how the band got its name.

Rio M: Bring forth is an old fashioned English phrase. It means to bring something into existence and in the Bible it means to give birth. We want to bring forth excellent music for our fans.

Interviewer: You brought forward the date of your concert in Hong Kong. Why?

Rio M: We are bringing out a new CD at the end of the month and we brought forward the date of the concert to fit in with this.

Interviewer: Your concert here should bring in more fans.

Rio M: Yes, and hopefully our tour of the United States will bring us in new American fans. We are bringing out a DVD of our Hong Kong concert for worldwide sales.

Interviewer: The CD you brought out last year was a massive success.

Rio M: Yes, but for copyright reasons we didn't bring it out in the US. The new CD will be our first for that market

Interviewer: Best of luck to all of you in Bring Forth. Thanks for chatting, Rio.

The interview format of the passage is great. The phrase 'bring forth' is clearly defined in the explanation. But the exercise is challenging this time. I had to read question 5 of Task 1 twice before I could decide on the answer.

I like the interview. The story is good. You provide a clear definition of the phrase 'bring forth'. The usage of the phrase is also clearly spelt out in the passage. But interestingly, you do not have an exercise for it. Maybe you should have some questions on the phrase. And I find question 3 of Task 1 challenging.
