A $100 million exhibition showing what Hong Kong will be like by the year 2001 is expected to attract more than 230,000 visitors. Governor Chris Patten yesterday said he was glad to officiate at the opening of Hong Kong's Expo 2001 - to have a look at what he will be missing when Hong Kong is returned to China. Organised by Hong Kong University, the four-day expo, starting today at Wan Chai's Convention and Exhibition Centre, marks the climax of the institute's 80th anniversary celebration. More than 80 exhibitors demonstrate developments in health, transport, science and technology and the environment. A model of a Bridge Vibration Monitoring System and a computerised voting system were just two of the many displays.
