Eason Chan Yik-shun has enjoyed a fruitful year since switching his focus back to music, winning a number of accolades in Hong Kong and on the mainland in the lead-up to his latest concert series.
The 32-year-old singer-actor put his music career on hold two years ago to concentrate on making movies, but last year made a comeback with his latest album, U87. It was released six months before the local industry's award season, but was named the best-selling album of 2005 at Commercial Radio's music awards - one of six honours conferred on Chan, including best male singer.
Chan then announced that he would focus more on his singing to reward his fans, and that he would marry longtime girlfriend Hilary Tsui Ho-Ying, the mother of his two-year-old daughter, after the concerts.
Chan has said he wasn't confident about the response to the concerts, which were initially scheduled to run for six nights, but strong ticket sales have led to an extra two shows.
