A further 151 people, including a toddler, have fallen ill after eating poon choi bought from the same Yuen Long food factory and restaurant believed to have caused the food-poisoning of 123 others. One of the latest victims had to be admitted to hospital.

The most recent outbreak brought the total number of those affected to 274. The new victims comprised 135 males and 139 females, aged from one to 84.

They developed fever and diarrhoea, abdominal pain and vomiting between one and 58 hours after eating basin meals bought from Pak Ka Pun Choi on January 29.
