Updated at 6.21pm: The Chief Executive's Office announced on Tuesday it has appointed former journalist and public relations consultant Andy Ho On-tat as the government's new Information Co-ordinator. A spokesman for the CE's office said Mr Ho would take up the position next Monday. 'We are confident that Mr Ho will bring his wealth of working experience in the media to the post and provide outstanding service,' the spokesman said. The appointment of Mr Ho follows the appointment of several senior government officials in recent weeks. The moves have been seen as a strategy by Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen to secure broader support for his government to help with his re-election in 2007. Mr Ho is now a public affairs consultant and a former political editor of the South China Morning Post. The information co-ordinator organises public relations strategies for the government. The job also includes planning and implementing the Chief Executive's programme of public functions involving the news media.
