Guangdong trade office will get another 10 staff
More staff are to be hired by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong, which is to set up a special team with the Immigration Department.
The team will offer more help to Hongkongers facing emergencies and other difficulties in Guangdong and nearby provinces, office director Peter Leung Pak-yan said yesterday.
The office would hire 10 more staff, taking the total to 29, and set up a six-member emergency service team in April, Mr Leung said. Four members of the team would be provided by the Immigration Department and two would be hired on the mainland.
'The team will stay at our office in Guangzhou and offer emergency help services to Hong Kong people in need,' he said.
Mr Leung announced the plan at yesterday's opening ceremony for the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions' Dongguan Service Centre. The federation has been offering similar help services for some time.
