Where? The boutique moved to its current location - in the heart of Zurich's historic quarter, near the Rennweg - in 1985. It was previously further from the city centre, but had become popular with the fashion crowd. Who? Marco Kunz opened Switzerland's first concept store 21 years ago. The idea was to create a hip, contemporary, urban boutique selling a mixture of reasonably priced clothes and high-end labels. Fashion finds: the shop offers a wide range of labels, including Helmut Lang, Neil Barrett, Viktor & Rolf, Isabel Marant, Bikkembergs, Diane von Furstenberg, Costume National, D-Squared, Martin Margiela and many more. It also sells its own lines: Fidelio Women and Fidelio Men. The vibe: the art-deco interior was created by Swiss designer Frederic Dedelley, who chose irregular corners for the furniture and synthetic resin and leather for shelves and cabinets. The staff are laid-back and helpful. The crowd: Fidelio has a far-reaching following of architects, artists and music-business celebrities who range in age from 18 to 60. Extras: there are two stores in addition to the first. Fidelio 2 offers more affordable pieces and features newcomers such as Filippa K, Malene Birger, Drykorn, S'Nob and Daniele Alessandrini as well as some Scandinavian labels. Rabatt (Discount) is a bargain haven featuring reduced pieces from the other two boutiques. Fidelio is at Muenzplatz 1, Zurich, Switzerland, tel: 41 1 211 1311; Fidelio 2 is at Nueschelerstrasse 30, tel: 41 43 344 8470; Rabatt is at Badenerstrasse 75, tel: 41 1 240 0510.
