Hong Kong ace Rebecca Chiu Wing-yin bowed out to Shelley Kitchen in the $160,000 Buler Squash Challenge Cup final yesterday after suffering from a muscle cramp in the crucial fifth set. Chiu was subdued 3-2 (10-8, 5-9, 2-9, 9-7, 6-9) by the New Zealander in a 75-minute final held at the Hong Kong Square Centre. The 27-year-old started off with an 8-1 lead in the first set but Kitchen staged a strong comeback with her powerful forehand and claimed the first set. Chiu struggled in the rest of game and surrendered to Kitchen as she started to cramp in her left thigh while she was down 6-7. After a short treatment break, she was unable to ease the muscle tension and lost 6-9. 'I was exhausted,' said the dejected Chiu.
