The parents of a 10-year-old boy who died after he was left inside a suitcase in their Wan Chai flat appeared in court yesterday accused of killing him.

Tour guide Chu Wing-hon, 49, and his wife Koyo Takahashi, 34, showed no emotion as they appeared before Magistrate Li Wai-chi in Eastern Court to face a joint charge of murder.

Neither of them entered a plea, and they were remanded in custody. Mr Li adjourned the matter until March 17.

Hours earlier, their son, Chu Tai-fuk, died from multiple organ failure. He had spent the previous 24 hours in a coma.

Tai-fuk, a student at the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Li Chi Ho Primary School in Wan Chai, was found unconscious in the family flat in Queen's Road East on Thursday.
