The Hong Kong and Kowloon inter-school Division Three athletics meet heats up this week, with the finals in each of the four areas scheduled to be held at Wan Chai Sports Ground.
With 177 schools in the fray, Division Three is the biggest of the urban competitions. Because of the large number of participating schools, the event is divided into four areas.
Only one school from each area will be promoted to Division Two. Therefore, every point counts.
In the area two finals today, Heung To Secondary School (Tseung Kwan O) will be seeking to clinch a unique double, with both their boys' and girls' teams in pole position in the standings.
The girls are 20 points clear of the second-place team, while the boys are 36 ahead. Good results in the end-of-the-day relays should secure Heung To's promotion.
In tomorrow's area three finals, Kowloon True Light Middle School have the advantage in the girls' category. They lead second-placed Hotung Secondary School by 13 points.
Among the boys, Shau Kei Wan Government Secondary School - who have amassed an impressive 120 points - are the favourites.
