Updated at 7.29pm: The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) on Wednesday said it was concerned about a fake bank website that has been put on the internet. The HKMA said it wanted to alert people to the fraudulent website which has the domain name ' www.ub-cn.net '. 'The website looks similar to the official website of Bank of Communications, Hong Kong Branch (Bank of Communications),' the HKMA said in a statement. It said the Bank of Communications had clarified that it had no connection with the fraudulent website. In the past, fake bank and company websites have been established on the internet to con Hong Kong people into divulging confidential personal and financial information. Sometimes these websites look very similar to genuine corporate websites. 'The Bank of Communications has reported the case to the police for further investigation,' HKMA said. Anyone who has provided personal information to the website or has conducted any financial transactions through the website should contact: the Bank of Communications on tel: 2269 9699. The should also call any local police station or the Commercial Crime Bureau on tel: 2860 5012.
