The technological achievement category of the Hong Kong Awards for Industries serves to recognise excellence in technology and intellectual property and its contribution to Hong Kong. It is also expected to promote a broader appreciation of technology adoption and development in the industry and enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong industries. The organiser of this award, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, received 43 entries. They were assessed on their technological merits and intellectual property, their impact on the industry and market recognition of the technology, and the technology culture of the participating corporation. Sixteen companies were shortlisted in the first round, and six finalists made it into the second round. Among the six finalists, WowWee was named the grand award winner and the other five each earned an organiser's award. Seven companies were awarded certificates of merit.
