The Machinery and Equipment Design awards, organised by the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA), aim to upgrade the design and production of machinery and equipment to boost the competitiveness of Hong Kong manufacturers. Entries are judged on their innovation, application of technology, functionality, ergonomics, cost performance, safety and environmental impact. Entrants are required to submit detailed information about their products for consideration by the judging panel. The product may also be subject to a CMA test for compliance. 'It is impressive to note that we have different kinds of machinery, equipment and environmental-friendly products entering this year's competition, all of them displaying outstanding performance in innovation, cost-performance, technology application, and environmental protection,' an association spokesman said. 'This also serves to prove that, besides cost competitiveness, the quality of our machinery and equipment sector has reached world standard.'
