Douglas Whyte was back into gear and John Size celebrating his 'worst' season as the Dream Team emerged from a brief hibernation at Sha Tin yesterday.
Whyte landed a treble on Peter Ho-trained Turf Gold, Ample Gains for Manfred Man Ka-leung and wrapped it up with the lone winner for Size, All Chances, as he made it four wins from nine starts in the 10th race.
'It's been a little bit of a lean period, with a lot of John's early winners this season now in their place in the ratings and finding it harder,' Whyte said.
'But John's been very good to me. I don't think I want to go jumping off his horses because he's such a consistent trainer. He never has a bad run - he goes through this kind of period where he's chipping away with one here and there, and hopefully now a few of those who haven't won yet and would appreciate some cut in the ground will get what they need and away John will go again.'
For his part, Size landed his 50th winner for the season with All Chances, a victory that leaves him only two short of 300 wins in Hong Kong.
'And 50 equals the worst season I've had here so I'm happy with how things are going,' Size said. 'I'm certainly happy with All Chances. He has a good character about him and really throws himself into his racing. Luckily we've been able to space his races a bit because it does take a bit out of him each time.'
