Where is it? Perched high above the waves overlooking Kalim Beach, at the far north end of Phuket's Patong Beach, from where the views of the Andaman Sea are perfect.
What's so special about it? The resort's eight Diamond Villas are exclusive, luxurious and private. Each sits on a generous 600 square metres and is designed in the traditional Thai style that uses warm wooden features. For added privacy, the bedrooms and living quarters are housed in separate buildings joined by walkways that meander through delightful tropical gardens, lotus ponds and waterfalls. Each villa has its own swimming pool overlooking the sea, as well as a sauna. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring the vistas into the sunken marble Jacuzzi in the main bathroom (right), while the second one looks onto a leafy courtyard.
Any extras? Apart from relaxing and enjoying the resort's ambience and views, a foray to the beach always brings rewards. Complimentary activities include Thai cooking classes, mini golf, table tennis, vegetable- and fruit-carving lessons, Thai massage sessions and glass painting. Elephant trekking and kayaking can also be arranged.
And the spa? The massage rooms and lounges are set amid the relaxing water gardens. Practitioners offer traditional Thai, Japanese and western techniques, while the extensive menu of treatments covers everything from head to toe.
What's on the menu? Have your own private chef prepare an intimate seafood dinner for two while you gaze at the ocean (or into each other's eyes). Or follow the scent of tropical fruit to the lobby fruit shop and fill your basket with mangosteens, rambutans, jackfruits and guavas. Or plunder any of the resort's eight restaurants, which offer a range of international cuisines. Patong Beach, of course, has a wall of restaurants to choose from.
Anything else we should know? If you're thinking of getting married or renewing your wedding vows, for 46,000 baht ($9,000) you can dress in traditional Thai costume and put yourself in the hands of the resort's wedding organisers - who can even arrange for your Thai Buddhist wedding ceremony to be attended by nine monks.
