I have a vintage Chanel jacket that is pretty in pink, but it would be worn to death if it was black. Any suggestions on where I can get it professionally dyed, as obviously I could not pop it in the machine with a tin of Dylon?

The Dictator rules: Ah, the dye question, yet again. Let me spell it out for you people: D-O N-O-T. It's not worth the effort. Fabrics respond differently to dyes; linings probably won't match; wool is particularly difficult, and so on. Almost no one in Hong Kong, from dry cleaners to tailors, will even discuss it. However, well-known garment maker Irene Fashions (3/F, 86 Wellington Street, Central, tel: 2850 5635) will consider the job for about $400 - no guarantees - after an initial evaluation. I'd save the pink and get another in black. If the price tag for a new Chanel jacket is too daunting (about $23,000 to $36,300; Chanel, shop B1, Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2810 0978), go second-hand. There are occasionally nice examples for about $3,000 at Lady Place (unit A, 1/F, World Trust Tower, 50 Stanley Street, Central, tel: 2854 2321; www.ladyplace.
com). With a name like that, how can you resist?
I blush at the worst moments, and sometimes for no reason at all. I've seen make-up fixers in weird colours such as lavender. Can they help me? I'm embarrassed!
