Q Should more be done to help Sars survivors?
The Sars outbreak is a past event for most of us, but for those who got infected and lost their loved ones, it is still a living nightmare. We cannot imagine how these people have suffered in the aftermath of the outbreak.
Some have lost their jobs and are living on limited financial aid from the government because of failing health. Some are leading a life of privation and misery. We should offer help to them, as long as it's reasonable and the government can afford it.
The Sars outbreak was not a total 'accident'. The government should have done more to prevent the virus from spreading like wildfire, but it didn't. It reacted very slowly.
If the government stops financial aid to the victims now, I'm really worried whether we will be left unattended once we get infected with bird flu or any other unknown but fatal virus.
We need and demand reassurance.
