SELECT young people will soon be watching television and reading comic books for the serious reason of finding out what should be banned. The ''Youth Supervise Media Scheme'', organised by the School-Social Worker Co-operation Working Group, aims to cultivate an understanding of the media's influence on society and to encourage independent and critical thought. Participants will investigate publications and broadcasts for indecency and immorality, and ask whether the production, rental or sale of these pose problems. Working in groups of 10 and advised by a teacher or social worker, they will make recommendations to Government and the media. Young people, in Form Four or above, of independent thinking and community spirit can take part. They will meet and hold activities between January and September.
