The price is right for Hewlett-Packard's Color LaserJet 1600 printer, which is made for the small office or home office market. Until the end of this month, each purchase of this $2,488 printer comes with a free HP Scanjet 2400 scanner worth $588 on a first-come-first-served basis. The new desktop printer is powered by a 264-megahertz Motorola microprocessor and comes with 16megabytes of random access memory, high-speed Universal Serial Bus 2.0 port, two-line liquid crystal display control panel, and a year's limited warranty. It churns out eight pages per minute in colour or black and white. The printer also has built-in support for Microsoft's Windows operating system.
