Underdogs will need heart, soul and inspiration to turn back the clock
The last time Kowloon won a First Division title, Hong Kong was still under British rule, and the KCRC was running smoothly. How things have changed since 1997.
Heads are rolling these days - and underdogs Kowloon will be hoping to add another scalp by winning their first major title since beating DeA in the Grand Championship final in the handover year.
'It has been a while since we won a First Division title. But I hope all that will change tomorrow,' said Securicor Kowloon chairman Paul Mallen yesterday.
Mallen, who is a survivor of that title-winning Kowloon team nine years ago, will start on the bench today. Another member of that team is Steve Pengelly, who will play for Kowloon Pussies in the Second Division final before fronting up for the First XV.
'The feeling's good among the boys. They are all motivated and looking forward to the game,' said Mallen confidently.
