LLADRO'S porcelain creations are becoming as much a part of Christmas as traditional carols and the tree laden with presents. From Cinderella escaping on the stroke of midnight leaving a slipper at the foot of a staircase, to nativity scenes and decorations for the Christmas tree, there is a piece for everyone. This year Lladro has produced a beautiful series of snow and ice scenes - two children on a toboggan, a young boy raising his ski-clad sister off the ground, and Father Christmas with a child wide-eyed with excitement. A snowman complete with top hat, scarf, a carrot for a nose and a beaming smile is surrounded by two young children and a puppy who have been making him. The Christmas tree is a centrepiece in many homes and here Lladro's designers have let their ideas run riot with a collection of Christmas decorations ranging from tubby snowmen, lambs, elves, animals, impish children, a Lladro speciality, and serene angels to perch proudly at the top. Slender angels also form the base for candlesticks. There are two nativity scenes - one in rich gold, blues and browns portraying the glory of the birth, and a second scene in more sombre greys and pale blue that highlight the humble stable. Collectors of Lladro items will already know of the annual Christmas Bell and Ball that have been produced each year since 1987, but all Lladro's Christmas porcelain can be become part of the family tradition as each year the old favourites are unwrappedand used to decorate the home.
