National People's Congress vice-chairman Cheng Siwei receives a warm welcome from students and staff at Lingnan University yesterday.

He told the students they should 'think systematically and innovatively' as the future  was in their hands.

He assured Hong Kong  it would not be marginalised if its people stayed vigilant and strengthened its advantages.

Mr Cheng, who was educated in Hong Kong, fielded questions ranging from Sino-American  economic ties to teaching styles.
