I want to buy my friend a pair of blue knickers for the 'something blue' part of her wedding, but shops in the building above Milan Station in Lan Kwai Fong have only cheap stuff, Marks & Spencer have none I like and Harvey Nichols doesn't sell underwear. Do you know of anywhere else? Undercover Agent, Causeway Bay

The Dictator rules: Oh, aren't you original? Like that's never been done before. We found a few pretty pieces at Private Shop (The Landmark, Central, tel: 3126 2257), including a gorgeous pale blue lace pair by Princess Tam Tam ($349) and the more reasonable, but surprisingly chic, Maidenform ($109). In addition to the dependable designs at Calvin Klein Underwear ($180 each; G27, Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2973 0345), they also carry the brighter, sportier CK Choice (from $100). Wacoal ($88 to $178; shop 6, 1/F, Hing Wai Building, 36 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2523 5784) also does them (are you sensing a pattern?); as does Triumph ($69 to $98; tel: 2763 7668), along with their active line, Sloggi, which makes cute lace and cotton thongs for only $55. Or indulge your friend with something she'll wear again after the wedding. The new Glam Rose (2/F, 24 Russell Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2572 2831; www.glamrose.com) carries luxurious all-silk smalls by Spoylt, including the Decadence line, which comes in Midnight Blue ($907 to $971) and has a lovely matching bra ($1,489).

I bought a yellow summer dress from Roxy last summer and I think it would look perfect with a pair of wedges this season. Do you know of any places where these are sold? Wedge of Reason, Jordan

The Dictator: What do you mean? Wedges? They're sold in almost every shoe shop. If you mean a specific type or price range, then you need to tell me. Brown or a print in matching tones might work well with a yellow dress. For something unique, check out what's on offer at Change ($1,590 to $3,790; Shop J3, Queensway Plaza, Admiralty, tel: 3583 1022), which stocks brands such as Dolce & Gabbana and L'Autre Chose. We saw some 1970s print espadrille wedges at Kate Spade that might suit your dress ($2,600; G214, Harbour City, Gateway II, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 3104 0855). Marc by Marc Jacobs (The Landmark, Central, tel: 2868 9213) appears to have a similar idea ($2,290). At the lower price end, you might like the selection of solid and patterned wedges at Fiorucci ($698 to $1,298; shop 433, Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 0509).

Where's a good place to get a diamond and platinum ring cleaned and polished? I normally clean it myself with soapy water at home, but I want to have it done properly by a jeweller - honestly, the difference is amazing!
