Promoting curry
SevenSeen was just filled with questions when we spotted the sky-blue jerseys around the stadium yesterday. For starters, just what is the Royal Hong Kong Curry Club and what are they doing at the Sevens?
'We're just a bunch of guys who like a good curry and get together once every two weeks,' said member Chris Young. The club was founded in 1995 and has about 150 members. 'We mostly eat at the Mariner's club or any new curry place,' Young said. 'We all drink a lot of beer and have big bellies, but that's about the only connection [we have with the Sevens]. It's a blokes-only club, although neither Young, nor fellow member Randy Lee knew exactly why.
What were the rules again? 'No women and no French. Dunno why, though.'
What did they think of the Sevens, curry-wise? We've been coming since our first year and we haven't seen curry served here, ever,' said fellow member Randy Lee, a Royal Hong Kong Curry Club member.
'They really should, considering that the caterer, Holiday Inn, is Indian.'
