Charlotte Morse on O'Jasper jumps during one of her four clear rounds, to lead a Hong Kong sweep of the top four places at last weekend's Malaysian round of the Asian Showjumping Challenge. This follows their victory in the FEI World Jumping Challenge.
The Asian Showjumping Challenge consists of a series of high-level competitions held throughout the region. Events have taken place in Thailand and Malaysia and a competition is planned for Hong Kong later this year. Hong Kong riders won both group A and group B events last year.
FEI International Course Designer Werner Deeg, who has acted as chief steward jumping at a number of Olympic events including Sydney and Athens, put together a demanding course of 25 one-metre fences.
Technically challenging, the course incorporated varying distances and bends to really test competitors.
The SAR swept the board with Morse first and Magali Tong on ex-racehorse Open Treasure second. Last year's group A winner Jennifer Chang was third on Sport Seeker and Gaelle Tong came fourth on another ex-racehorse, Capital Star.
The team is trained by Stuart Mitchell at the Hong Kong Jockey Club. With each victory, the SAR team are moving closer to their dream of fielding a full showjumping team at the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar in December.
