FOUR players who played in this year's Hong Kong Sevens have been included in the 23-strong Taiwan squad for two internationals against the territory this week. Wingers Huang Hung-lung and Tseng Chi-ming, full-back Wu Tsu-chi and fly-half Kuo Shan-pen bring speed and experience into a largely young Taiwan side who are looking ahead to next year's Asian Rugby Football Tournament (ARFT) in Malaysia. Wu and Tseng were part of the 1992 Hong Kong Sevens squad, while the captain of that side, Kao Jia-liang returns to the international scene. Second rower Kao's last major 15-a-side tournament was the 1990 ARFT in Sri Lanka. Wu and squad captain, 120-kilogram prop Hsu Jen-lung, are the only survivors from last year's ARFT in Seoul, South Korea, where Taiwan finished fourth. Taiwan have fond memories of Hong Kong from their last visit in 1992 when they beat the national side in a one-off international. But the Hong Kong team to face the Taiwanese on Tuesday and Saturday will be very different to the one beaten nearly two years ago. Only six of the 25 players in the current Hong Kong squad survive from last year's ARFT in Seoul where Hong Kong finished runnersup to Japan. National coach George Simpkin will pick the 15 for Tuesday's match after this morning's final training session at Boundary Street.
