Overseas teams arrived yesterday for the sixth Hong Kong International Handball Tournament to be held from today until Monday at the Kowloon Park Sports Centre.
Along with the hosts, teams from China, Chinese Taipei, Germany, India, Macau and Turkey are taking part in the competition.
Handball matches last for 60 minutes, and have a 10-minute break between each half. The coach can swap players at any point, without a time stoppage, as long as the team has only seven players on the court.
All of the players, except the goalkeeper, are responsible for both attack and defence. Wingers are responsible for breaking down the opposing defence on each side of the court to create goal-scoring chances for the centre, who is a key attacking player.
The four-day tournament is organised by the Handball Association of Hong Kong, China, and funded by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Burt's Bees.
