Mugglecast As one would expect, this is a podcast that concerns things to do with that English wizard, Harry Potter. Some of the voices on this may irritate and they may possibly give away plot developments if you have not read all the books. For hardcore fans, I would say. http://media.mugglenet.com/mugglecast/mc2006 _01_13.mp3 Strictly for Chefs This site is for the serious chef. I got lost very quickly here, but then I do not cook for anybody, not even myself. It involves lots of discussion about what makes a good chef, and some facts about Chicago. Might be worth a listen if you are headed that way. www.hungrymag.com/podcasts /MichaelSymonInterview.mp3 Mandarin Lessons This is definitely a fun site. It is perfect for the student of Mandarin who wants to listen to a variety of levels of Chinese. I have not listened to all of the podcasts, but they say they have them for beginners as well as for the advanced. The English they speak is rather good as well. www.chinesepod.com/ worth a visit This is actually a vlog by a rather irritating person, but the content is not too bad. I do not understand why some people become so condescending when they talk to a camera, but this vlog covers Apple's MacWorld Expo in San Francisco. What is good about it are the tiny extracts from some of the exhibitors showing off their products. Worth it for that alone. http://codedsignal.com/podcasting/2006/040606_ TechForTheDesktop.mp4 Cat trap One of the great new problems we face in the world of the internet is trying to prove we are human. Some sites, to prevent software from automatically accessing things, put up numbers or letters that look like squiggles. The human eye can usually tell the difference. Now there is a new idea that hopes to get round the hackers: kittens! You have to pick three kittens out of nine pictures. This one is far more difficult for hackers to crack. You can try it out here. www.kittenauth.com/ka.php
