What: Established in 2001 by a group of volunteers who are dedicated to youth and community affairs, the association organises and runs activities for young people and helps them to realise their potential to become better citizens.

Volunteer: Kenny Wong Yun-cheong, 24, has been working as a volunteer for the Hong Kong Youth Power Association for nearly five years. A part-time student, he is pursuing an associate degree in social work at the Hong Kong College of Technology.

'I committed myself to volunteer work after I finished my HKCEE exams. I have visited elderly and mentally disabled people and help run mainland exchange activities and events related to civic education.

'Each year, the association adopts a special theme. For example, the youth unemployment rate was very high during and after the Sars crisis. During that time, we organised activities that were focused on employment issues and arranged visits to companies to learn about their operations.
