Mind How You Go is Skye Edwards' debut solo album. She's better known as the former voice of Morcheeba, an electronic pop trio famous for their chill-out, down-tempo music.
Edwards has branched out on her own since leaving Morcheeba in 2003. Mind You Go's 11 breezy tracks offer a candid and personal look at her life, expressed through simple and soothing music and lyrics that she wrote herself.
It kicks off with Love Show, a trippy track that reminds one of Morcheeba's songs.
But the remaining tracks take on a style that is Edwards' own. For example, Calling is a soulful track that she wrote together with her husband - musician Steve Gordon - during their honeymoon.
Jamaica Days is an a cappella-style song which touches on Edwards' family roots. It recalls the first time she met her grandmother from Jamaica. Another outstanding track is What's Wrong With Me, in which Edwards purrs about her problems and frustrations through narrative lyrics set against light, trippy beats.
One thing that hasn't changed is Edwards' whispery, delicate vocals. As a solo artist, her talent shines as bright as it did when she was with Morcheeba.
