Hong Kong equestrian sports moved up to a new level yesterday as Charlotte Morse rode a stunning round on Lanceretto in the KL Grand Prix.

At 18 years old, the youngest rider in the class on the youngest horse, Morse was competing against international and Olympic competitors over a challenging 1.6 metre course of 12 obstacles including a tricky combination to finish in 77.39 seconds on four penalties.

Morse incurred penalties at just the water jump - the same fence that also challenged world number one ranked rider Marcus Ehning. Her round attracted attention for being one of the most impressive in terms of execution.

'I couldn't have ridden it better myself,' exclaimed reigning world champion Dermott Lennon.

Afterwards Morse was still trying to come to terms with her achievement.

'It was thrilling, I am so excited just to be here and be a part of it. I will have to watch the video to make sure that it really happened!' she said.
