Alcohol a must for hygienic Andy

Actor-singer Andy Lau Tak-wah (right) is known for being self-disciplined. He told a radio interviewer yesterday he has stringent rules on hygiene and diet. He always takes a small bottle of alcohol with him for sterilisation purposes, a habit he has maintained for years. 'I like spraying it, on myself, even though it makes [my skin] dry. I also like to clean the toilet bowl and the bathtub,' he says. Lau also disclosed he is so strict about looking fit on screen that he sometimes does not eat at work. 'Even when I was shooting A Battle of Wits [in Hebei province], I only had some nan bread. It is a bit fatty, but at least it has some wheat in it. I have to watch my diet because I cannot exercise as much as before.'

Like his bottle of alcohol, there are a few things he cannot resist when it comes to food - double cheeseburgers, Chinese pineapple buns stuffed with fresh butter and fresh grapes with blue cheese. 'Cut a green grape in half and put blue cheese on it. That is the best thing you can get,' he says. 'But the fresher the grapes, the fattier they are. I wouldn't eat more than 10 pieces.'
